Wings Like Eagles

SCRIPTURE

Isaiah 40:27-31
27 O Jacob, how can you say the Lord does not see your troubles?
O Israel, how can you say God ignores your rights?
 28 Have you never heard?
      Have you never understood?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of all the earth.
He never grows weak or weary.
No one can measure the depths of his understanding.
29 He gives power to the weak
      and strength to the powerless.
30 Even youths will become weak and tired,
and young men will fall in exhaustion.
31 But those who wait on the Lord will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.

PRAYER

Lord, the more ______ waits, the more it may seem that you do not see her troubles. And some seasons of life are so unfair that she might think that you are ignoring her entirely. Those seasons of emptiness and aloneness can be consuming, almost like a low-grade terror that builds in the background of the heart and threatens to overwhelm. In those seasons Lord, I pray that you would remind ______ of who you are; the everlasting God, Creator of all the earth. Bring to her heart a vision of the amazing strength, endurance, and understanding that you make available to her. Lord, quiet her heart. Still her. Move her into your presence just to sit in silence, and wait. Wait, Lord. Remove from her mind the fear of the unknown, the worry of the future, the pain of the present. Give her heart a singular focus Lord… YOU. Open a conduit from your heart to hers. And as she waits, pour forth upon her spirit a generous supply of strength to overcome her fears, of understanding to see her future, and endurance to face her present. Lift her high above her circumstances as her wings catch the wind of your spirit. Make her spirit soar Lord. Give her that surge of strength, that depth of endurance she needs to walk her path. When it comes to her Lord, may it be sudden and supernatural. May she know for sure that it comes from you. May she see WAITING as the conduit that carries this strength. And Lord, because of that, may the word WAIT become sweet to her soul indeed. Amen.

ENCOURAGEMENT

Make the waiting count, my dear girl. Wait long, not for your hopes and dreams, but wait on your Lord. Sit in his presence often and long. Worship him as creator and sustainer. Delight yourself in the intimacy of his presence. And feel yourself soar.
